But of course we do venture forth to get a sense of the ship itself. We see how easily we can find our way, usually on the large ships we’re not truly oriented until the end of the cruise. What we immediately appreciate is the simple but elegant, understated charm of this ship. It’s not glitzy or filled with all kinds of art objects in showcases. Public spaces are comfortable, attractive, warm and inviting. Though the lounges are lovely areas our favourite places to linger are outside: the Veranda Café where we savour breakfasts and lunches on deck, soaking in the warmth, sea breezes and Caribbean panoramas, and the Sky Bar where we often languidly catch the late afternoon mellow rays.
What a dream! The Legend is comprised totally of suites, 40 per cent with doors opening to a step-like balcony. This ultra-luxury, all-inclusive ship means everything from meals, beverages, and furnishings are of top quality. Food and unlimited drinks and wines are all complimentary; tips are not expected or required; and there are no port charges. Feeling pampered our worries and cares simply dissipate; we never have to think or deal with any money at all. The Legend does provide the amenities of a larger ship: library, casino, restaurants, gym, business centre, entertainment, spa and shop, albeit on a smaller scale.
